Llum

This is a look from one of my five mirage-inspired collections– this collection centering around astigmatism.

Astigmatism is a condition that affects the eyes and visual perception, commonly altering the appearance of light. From an epistemological standpoint, what people with astigmatism see is an illusion. This false sense of reality, often a sight needing correction, contains an aspect of beauty that goes underappreciated. In my experience with astigmatism, I have always loved the exaggerated and stretched lights of traffic and the headlights of cars on a rainy night. I loved it even more after finding out that not everyone sees it like I do. The false perception of the world because of eyesight is the mirage I wanted to emulate in my design. This specific garment draws on the way a person with astigmatism sees car headlights.
