Fata morgana
Parsons Design Studio 1 project conceptualizing 5 collections based on identity and creating a garment from one. All of the collections I designed for this project were focused on different types of mirages. This collection, Fata Morgana, is inspired by a specific type of mirage: the illusion of water in the desert.
My focus on mirages came from curiosity about fashion’s emphasis on appearance and its manipulation of it. One of my favorite things about this art form is its ability to alter perception: something we subconsciously do every time we get dressed. Mirages mirror this theme in their illusionary effects.
